"We just started our own [frozen meal food swap] group and found a way to give to our community as we make things easier for ourselves! We each cook twelve meals and evenly exchange among our eleven families and one family to donate a set of meals to. It's a nice way to give charitably and it's built in to what we are already doing. We decide by email a week before the [freezer meal] exchange—who knows someone who is sick, a new parent, a death, etc. One person takes charge of the donation. It's simple and well worth it! The local churches always know someone who would benefit from some wholesome cooking if you don't know of someone off hand. Good luck!"
We have also learned of groups who gather to prepare meals to stock the freezer at their home church. Families in crisis or need are delivered a meal from the stockpile that is regularly replenished.
We love it. But probably not nearly as much as those who have had meals generously provided for them. Thank you for your ideas and inspiration—we welcome your posts!
