“I was approached last week at church by an acquaintance about Providence Christian High School's (fundraising) auction. This person was aware of our CAF group and suggested we maybe donate some meals to be auctioned. We put together a list of eight meals, to be delivered in early December (to take some hassle out of a busy month for someone!). We really hoped it would go for $150.00 or so. Imagine our surprise when it turned into bidding war and ended at $550.00! We immediately offered to do it again for the back-up bidder and they accepted. We raised $1,100.00 for the school with 16 pans of food. Amazing!”
That’s $68.75 per entrée worth of amazing! Ruth, who is a member of a four-person CAF group, also passed along the following details.
“We wrote up the listing as a one-time delivery of eight meals (two each of four-serving sized tins of Chicken Parmesan, Chicken Pot Pie, Apple Pork Chop Bake and Russian Chicken) to be delivered by December 3rd. We didn't want to fuss with continual deliveries. If we would have had more notice (and we talked about it later) we would have had the meals ready to go in an inexpensive cooler which could have been part of the auction too. The winners could have taken the whole thing home that night. As it is, we each only have to make two additional pans of what we were going to do in December anyway.”
